Abstract

LOCATION: Pematangsiantar is one of the municipalities in North Sumatra. Pematangsiantar is Simalungun cultural center, this city also a good city transit trade and tourists. The majority tribe in the city is thick with the Batak tribe customs. ISSUE:: Ulos as a fabric typical Batak tribe in use in the custom event, Some Ulos Batak endangered, The slow regeneration of weavers, The absence of containers into craft galleries ulos Batak, The absence of container into place as well as marketing promotions ulos Batak. Potential as a cultural attraction. GOAL: Plan Ulos gallery that will be used as a place for ulos production, promotion, education and cultural recreation. CONCEPT DESIGN: - The basic concept will be applied in the Gallery Ulos Simalungun approaches are described in the context of the environmental footprint and the concept of building forms. The concept of footprint using basic shapes Batak village. While the concept of using the analogy of building a traditional loom ulos Batak to be processed by traditional building forms of Batak.
