Abstract

B a c k g r o u n d - Terminal of Mota'ain was built back in 2003 ago by the state government of Belu. It was built near the international border between Belu (Indonesia) and Democratic Republic of Timor Lorosa’e (RDTL). The goal of the project was just to support the local transportations and economic activities. During the operations, the terminal didn’t go fine because of some extortions which were contained with crime acts, and the uncertainty decision to manage the terminal by local government. After all, the terminal was temporary shut by the state government of Belu for security consideration. I s s u e s - Main access, entrance and exit to the terminal was using the one and only way that being used by many vehicles to passing the border, which is so crowded. Within the terminal itself, there is no separation of circulations between the vehicles and passengers (crossing circulations), and the platforms weren’t comfortably built for passengers. G o a l s - Based on the building functions, the targets of the new design are to eliminate the crowded around the terminal, Providing a good pattern of circulations that comfortably and securely separating the passengers (pedestrians) and vehicles, to accommodate local needs of open space and green belt area due to the global warming issues, and using the local materials (bebak) to create an image that contextual with the local buildings.
