Abstract
Rice is an important crop because it produces rice which is the main food source for Indonesian people with harvested rice area reaching 13,835,252,00 ha with production of 71,279,709,00 ha Ton (BPS, 2013). But the rice harvest alone is used for consumption as staple food, while other parts are only discarded or not used optimally. It can not be denied that the waste from paddy yields increases. Waste is material that is wasted or disposed of from a source of human activity, as well as natural processes and does not or has no economic value. Though rice husk as one of the waste from the rice harvest has its own value both from physical properties and chemical properties. Rice husk is only used by the community for cattle feed, brick fuel and still less utilization. The development of exploration-based design of this material aims to membua opportunities in utilizing and increase the commercial value of rice husk waste by composite techniques. This technique was chosen based on preliminary research, judging from the nature of clams and physical waste rice husk potentially enough to become biopot. In addition, because of the absence of the price for this rice husk waste, can make the community to mebuat business opportunities by utilizing rice husks.
