Abstract

Pluralism in Indonesia encompasses ethnic, cultural and religious diversity, making it a pluralistic state. Christians live side by side with Islam, Buddhism, Konghucu, Hinduism and Catholicism. However, this pluralism remains problematic, such as the rejection of Christian activity in Bekasi in June 2023. The Gereja-Gereja Kristen Jawa ( GKJ ) Synod teaches to live side by side in a plural society, but the church's response to mutuality varies, as in the GKJ Manisrenggo. The study uses qualitative field study methods to explore the GKJ Manisrenggo congregation's understanding of other religions from Paul F. Knitter's Model approaches. The author collected descriptive data from interviews with seven selected respondents, including six congregations and one priest. Qualitative data analysis describes the interaction and communication of the congregation with other religious followers. Research shows two models of diversity views: placement, which judges the flow of beliefs as not equivalent to the official religion and mutualism, which values all beliefs. Attitudes towards other religions are also divided between a satisfactory model which emphasizes perfect salvation in Christianity and a mutualist which seeks interreligious dialogue. GKJ Manisrenggo has implemented article 8 of the Pokok-Pokok Ajaran ( PPA ) in chapter 5 with respect for diversity and preserving internal identity. Interreligious relations in the GKJ Manisrenggo tend to be harmonious, creating an atmosphere of righteousness and a community that values religious diversity. The study suggests a similar approach to strengthening tolerance and interreligious harmony in different communities
