Abstract

Main Idea of General District Hospital Type - C Biak Numfor : Health is the important thing in human life, but the health facility cannot support what suppose people get. In Biak, the facility is far from standard. even hospital in biak is reconciliation hospital for Mamberamo island (numfor, nabire, serui, waropen, manokwari, and wamena). Other things in papua which need to get focus is habit. people have a unique things that their always to do. That is eat pinang (Areca catechu), Even that is many sign was put to say “do not eat pinang”, but people always eat pinang. because their thing pinang is a part of their life. Transformation Design: Redesign of General District Hospital Biak Numfor, is focus in circulation and zoning. Because both of that is the important thing in hospital. if that things we ignore it, will be threat for patient safety. For old building, basic of post occupancy evaluation is not save. most of the building that must near one another is place too far. and not had different circulation. Other thing that have attention of design is habit from Papua, so each space have a place to eat pinang. Final Design: In final design that was clearly separate in circulation and zoning at hospital. For the zone are separate by public zone (front of site), semi public zone (middle of site), private zone (middle of site), and service zone (behind of site). And for the circulation, in two focus. which are out circulation and in circulation. For out circulation is separate by emergency entrance, main entrance, side entrance (VIP & Pharmacy), and Service Entrance. beside of that things, other focus in final design is the place for people eat pinang, and the place available in indoor or outdoor. Conclusion: Hospital is the place to get more healthy, and for that reason must have some facility to support that to be true. redesign of general district hospital biak numfor was answer that challenge to make hospital that save and tolerate to local habit.
