Abstract

SMA Masehi Kudus is an old building which was built without anticipating its surrounding's development. Some years after this school was built, there were many industrious buildings built near the school so that it caused some problems in air and noise pollution an also circulation. Redesigning this building have to consider those problems. Apart from that, the other challenging problem is the limited space of the site because there are many activities which must have been included in the building. Besides, the building must have an access for vehicles and a parking a lot which is not available in the previous site. Goals : The purpose of redesigning this school building is to overcome the disturbances that come from the development of Panjunan region in acoustical as well as space organization. Moreover, this is aimed to strengthen the school functions by adding some facilities such as multipurpose hall, laboratories, libraries and many others an also to give a better circulation so that the students, staff and teachers' vehicles can be park inside. Final design : Redesign means re-organized. This project is to reprogram the building can have more public and private functions. The strategy to overcome the limited space site is to build a three-story building with a basement so that all vehicles can be accommodated in it. The use of vegetation is one of the strategies to reduce pollution and acoustical problems in this school building. This building use Green Roof as a media for students to study an also to condition air in the building as well as to save AC load.
