Abstract

Overview of the Role of Hospitals in Tual City Tual is a new expanded city of Southeast Maluku Regency. As a new city, Tual City not have adequate infrastructure to support either economic life, social, cultural, legal, etc mainly in the health sector. Therefore, Tual City still rely on Southeast Maluku regency to do life activities almost from all sectors including the health sector. Social conflict in 1998 in all regions of Maluku Province have an impact to population groupings based on religion. Population groupings can be described as a time bomb that may at any time destroy social interaction of Tual City. In response, hospitals in Tual City has a very important roles not only as a health facility but also the facility unifying social interaction in Tual City. Issues - At this time, Tual City only have 8 health centers spread across 3 major islands and only 2 health centers that have inpatient unit with 18 beds. While the population of Tual City in 2012 that is 62.036 peoples, with a population growth rate of 4.3% and a population density of 164 people/km2. From these data can be predicted in the year 2023, 1 health center in Tual City to be able to serve about 18.750 peoples. It can be concluded that population growth is not in proportion to the growth of the health facilities in Tual City. In addition, the geographical situation of Maluku province which is an island province, difficult for the patient to reach a provincial hospital in Ambon City. Goal - Designing a hospital that can serve the needs of public health in Tual City and provide a sense of comfort through relaxation elements such as water and aromatic plants. In addition, the hospital is able to respond to the natural surrounding and social interaction in the community of Tual City. The application of cultural elements to strengthen the hospital's role as a public facility that unites the social interaction in Tual City.
