Abstract

Sintang city has become the center of commercial activities in Sintang. Lies at the confluence of two rivers makes this area became the most potential spot for commercial growth rather than the other cities in Sintang. Sungai Durian market area purposed as the main meeting point of all the commercial activities of both goods and services in Sintang City today. The rapid growth of commercial activities cant be controlled due to the lack of government interfere in arranging the spot. The area has now turned into a very seedy and filled with merchant’s buildings logging and rubbish wastes along the river bank. The objection of arranging this area is to organize and enhance the regional development and tourism in the city especially from the bank of Sintang river by re-arranged the market of Sungai Durian which has been damaged at this time. Structuring project focuses on the concept of waterfront view for it lies on the edge which is perfect for commercial activities as well as tourism activities. The arrangement project will be divided into several large groups where each group will represents the activities that have been developed in this area before. The first group consist of service activities, such as docks, parking, gardens, while the second group focused on commercial activities and entertainments such as food court, entertainment stage, as well as parking. The third group created for retail-tourism activities such as souvenir retailed and restaurants. The activities of the group will be united in three floating buildings which facing the river. Floating building was chosen due to its possibility to present the local architecture that survives still until this day. The expectment by using floating building I to increase the tourism activities and the development for the city’s sake. Conclusion - The purpose of this project is to re-arranged a better sungai durian market so that people can travel and enjoy the nature, river, and local wisdom of Sintang City. By managing the commercial and tourism activities, Sintang waterfront city ia expected to become the hit icon of the area so the city could has rapid development which still combined with the harmony between nature, people and architecture
