Abstract

Surakarta as one of the pioneer of batik in Indonesia, has approximately 60 managed batik industry, and almost 90% of the batik rely on quality as its core product. Batik industry in Surakarta have enough extension, unique, and high historical value is Kauman and Kampoeng Batik Laweyan. This is the history of the two villages in the city of Solo Batik is famous among the general public until now. Problems and Potential, Batik incessant promotion by governments and communities in Surakarta batik lovers even in the archipelago. UNESCO recognition of batik as world cultural heritage. Projected number of tourists that can be seen from income entrepreneurs in the batik Laweyan. TRANSFORMATION DESIGN - The concepts that I use in this design is to follow the existing line at the site because the site is shaped form semetris. so the shape of the building also follow the line of site. I make a difference in the height of the roof in order to get natural penghawaan and natural lighting. In addition at the end of the streets visitors can also enjoy the beautiful batik kampoeng Laweyan riding tourist bus in the information center batik. FINAL DESIGN - The site that I chose to be in the region already Laweyan as famous for its batik. The first I want to show to visitors is the introduction of what was batik using batik exhibition space, the show films about batik and batik library. And only then proceed with batik workshop space by looking at ways of making batik and visitors can inquire directly with batik craftsmen.
