description: The History of Taman Sriwedari- Taman Sriwedari, also known as Kebon Raja, is one of Mangkunegaran’s relicts. At the beginning, Taman Sriwedari was an amusement park / recreation and resting place for the royal family. This park is equipped with some entertainment facilities such as Gedung Kesenian Solo (GKS), Gedung Wayang Orang Sriwedari (GWO Sriwedari), Taman Hiburan Rakyat (THR) which formerly had a zoo, traditional pavilion for traditional dance practice, some small restaurants, and souvenir shops. One of the activities which still exist until these day is traditional art performances of Wayang Orang or also known as Wayang Wong. This traditional art performances has reached the golden age and success in his day. However, over the times, the show that originally was an elite art became a folk art and later turned into a commercial art.Issues - Surakarta, also known as Solo is one of the historic cities in Indonesia. Some of Mangkunegaran’s relics was save in this place, one of them is the presences of Taman Sriwedari in Solo. Taman Sriwedari was originally designed a place for the royal family to take a rest and for recreational use, that also have a traditional art performance of wayang orang. This show had exist in his age, until Mangkunegaran got a monetary crisis, so they  can’t paid the player of wayang orang. This causes make the show that originally was an elite art became a folk art and later turned into a commercial art. Base on Badan Perencanaan Pembangunan Daerah (Bappeda) 2010, stated that one of the potentials and existing problems in the city of Surakarta is heritage that must be preserved. In addition, one of the strategic issues of development in the city of Surakartais doing Revitalization of Taman Sriwedari. This is done by sight Sriwedari park that had become a center of arts and culture now more widely used as a commercial area. Goals - The presence of Gedung Wayang Orang (GWO) Sriwedari is one of some icons in Taman Sriwedari which show the traditional art performance of wayang orang. The show that had reached the golden age and success was the relics of culture and history, that need to be kept preserved. Lack of facilities and amenities for visitors was the basis of this project. Beside that basis, this project of redesign also to create a new theater with a good acoustic for noise control, a convenient circulation for the visitors and players of wayang orang, visibility of spectator comfort, and consider about the eco-friendly with the regulation of the landscape and the parking lot. And also raise the cultural of Central Java in some spot.
