%X Kupang is the capital city of the East Nusa Tenggara Province. It is located on the Timor Island. The residents are multicultural as they are not only the native people but also the incomers from the counties around the island; such as the people from the island of Alor, Sabu, Flores, Sumba and Rote. Actually, this multicultural has had its own place from the very beginning. There is a state museum build around the year of 1977/1988 in the District of Oebobo. By the creation of the local autonomy, the state museum's status is turned into the local museum of East Nusa Tenggara. Therefore, it becomes the Unit of the Local Technical Manager. This unit is under the authority of the East Nusa Tenggara's local government. It is also under the authority of the East Nusa Tenggara's Education and Cultural Service. Issues The total visitors of the museum is decreasing or unstable for almost four years (2008-2011). It is due to the mandatory trip of the educational agency; starting from the level of the kindergarten students to the college students which is about 76%. Meanwhile, there is only 24% of the common trip coming from the visit of the locals and foreigners. In fact, the rest days (Dec 19th 2013 - Jan 19th 2014) shows that there are no visitors coming into the museum. This condition has led to a flourishing idea for redesigning the museum. It is expected to have a lot of functions as a common museum should owned. For examples, to attract the people's interests, there should be a cafetaria, small libraries, rooms with good lighting, collection arrangement and also an easy path for the visitor (especially the children) . Goal By redesigning the local museum of East Nusa Tenggara, it is expected to be able to bring back the image of the museum as a place of the multicultural in Kupang City. In addition, it is also to fulfil the standard of a museum which is commonly having such facilities as cafetaria, small library, rooms with good lighting, collection arrangement and also the easy way or circulation for the visitors. Besides, the museum could also be a new landmark in Kupang City and its surroundings.
